Tuberculocidal and Mycobactericidal Tests

Tuberculocidal and mycobactericidal disinfectants are important in high-risk sectors to prevent tuberculosis and other diseases.

Mycobacteria including M. tuberculosis are more resistant to disinfection compared to vegetative bacteria and enveloped viruses due to the waxy layer protecting the microbe. Mycobactericidal activity can be evaluated using suspension test (phase 2 step 1) or carrier test (phase 2 step 2 test). Select one of the tests below to learn more.
